Duality explores the experience of existing between identities, histories, and ways of belonging. Through collages made from my family's photographic archive alongside double-exposure self-portraits, I bring together images from both sides of my family to reflect the experience of constantly inhabiting two worlds without ever fully belonging to either. The layered photographs become fragments of memory and identity, revealing both connection and separation.

The accompanying video, also titled Duality, extends this investigation by considering the relationship between time, language, and the photographic image. As text gradually disappears, I reflect on how the absence of language can create distance and isolation, leaving images to carry what words cannot.

These works are built from fleeting moments—photographs that preserve memories while reminding us of their impermanence. Together, they ask how we hold onto inherited ideas of who we are and who we are expected to become, while also considering what it means to release those expectations and simply exist.
