Identity, specifically as it relates to race and ethnicity are significant factor present within this body of work. It aims to explore the bi-racial identity, specifically  Mexican-American and African-American descent. Often, when considering bi-racial identity, it can be from a perspective that is constricting the voices of a multitude of people who do not exist within a specific framework. It is not only important, but crucial that we begin to consider the other voices and life experiences that exist outside of the Black and White context of bi-racial identity, and begin to recognize the significance of not only other identities but their stories as well.

I am fortunate enough to have connected with several individuals who identify as Mexican-American and African American. I have captured their portraits, conducted interviews with them, and heard their stories.

I employ you to now do the same.
